The crystal glass company Val Saint Lambert was founded in 1825, at Seraing, nearLiège in Belgium, on the site of an old abbey. Amongst the early shareholders was King Guillaume I of Belgium, ensuring royal patronage of the company which endures to the present day.
In 1897, under company designer Leon Ledru, Val Saint Lambert enthusiastically embraced the new Art Nouveau aesthetic. The manufacturer specialized in casting and cutting glass, producing particularly bold patterns. Its use of multilayered, colored glass and technique of cutting of both sides of objects was particularly distinctive, producing an effect that few other companies could match.

Joseph Simon succeeded Leon Ledru the year after the introduction of the Art Deco movement at the Paris Exposition of 1925. The technical expertise of Val Saint Lambert was well suited for this new trend of geometrical designs, and the company would go on to produce iconic Art Deco designs that would become part of its legacy.

Since 1839 Val Saint Lambert has exported its refined and artistic crystal glass objects throughout the world. It is the official glassware supplier to King Albert II of Belgium. Pieces are very much sought after by distinguished hosts and art glass collectors.
We are lucky to have several Val Saint Lambert pieces in our collection. For a closer look, please visit us.
