Welcome to our 'First Glance' blog segment. We could try to list all what we’ve got waiting for you in our showroom but with that many pieces, that might be pretty close to impossible. So instead, we’ve created this periodical blog section just to give you an idea of what we have to offer and hopefully you’ll get a good glimpse of the breadth and depth of our selection. We look forward to your enquiries.

PORCELAIN LIMOGES BOWL MD004

This beautiful porcelain table bowl comes from Limoges – an area of France renowned for its porcelain factories since the late 18th century - and is marked Robj, Le Beuze. The bowl is decorated around the scalloped rim with a leaf design in gilt, which is matched by the gilded feet on which it stands. This adorable piece could be used as a serving bowl, but would look just as perfect as a decorative piece given ride of place on your dresser. Diameter 22cms. Condition: 1

Patine Curator's Note: Robj porcelain was very popular in the 1920s and 30s and is still highly collectible. The colourful image inside depicts an amusing scene of 2 crinoline encased ladies out for a walk with their Borzoi in the Place de la Concorde in Paris (portrayed by the ornate fountains and Egyptian obelisk in the background). This design is one of a series by Gaston Le Beuze featuring these 2 charming ladies about town.

This ensemble dates back to 1950 and is a true mid-century masterpiece set. It features delicate hand-drawn illustrations of scattered flowers and leaves in varying pastel colours on a subtle textured background. All rims and edges are beautifully gilded. The dishes may be used to serve hors d’oeuvres. A wonderfully rare and charming set, sure to please your guests! Dimensions (cm): Height of coffee/tea pot 20. Diameter Cake Dish 28cms, dia. plates 20cms. Sold as a set. Condition: 1

Patine Curator's Note: The Rosenthal Company was founded by Philip Rosenthal, Sr. in 1879 in Selb, part of Bavaria in Germany. He initially purchased blank dinnerware from Hutschenreuther, another Germany dinnerware manufacturer, upon which Rosenthal artists would draw their designs. These exquisite hand-drawn decorations made the company world-famous. In 1891, Rosenthal established his own white-ware porcelain making factory in Asch, Bohemia and began producing plates and table-top decor. The Rosenthal Company and Hutschenreuther were the defining brands of the porcelain industry in Bavaria. Rosenthal porcelain is highly collectable and sought after by collectors to this day.

LOUIS XV COFFEE TEA POT FD021

This elaborate silver plated coffee/tea pot is of the Rococo or Louis XV style and has tons of personality. It features an upper body decorated with a series of convex curves, a design known as "gadrooning." Beneath this pattern is a flurry of swirls and scrolls which vie for attention with the graceful curve of the spout and the balancing sweep of the handle. The handle itself features ivory rings at the top and bottom, an elegant way of providing heat insulation introduced in the 19th century. Atop the matching gadrooned lid is an ornate finial, while the feets upon which the pot stands appear to be almost on tiptoes. This little pot exudes such whimsy and personality, it is hard to resist! Dimensions (cm): Height 23. Condition : 1
